國內一項調查發現,逾五成企業拒聘愛滋感染者,台灣露德協會感嘆國人對於愛滋仍存有許多錯誤迷思,愛滋感染者求職路艱辛。

A recent study in Taiwan found that more than half of all companies refuse to employ HIV patients. Taiwan Lourdes Organization said that there still exist many myths about AIDS in Taiwan. Seeking employment is still challenging for the HIV positive.

台灣露德協會公布「全台中小企業愛滋職場友善認知大調查」,收訪者為各中小企業業主及人資主管,問卷內容包括常見的愛滋迷思及職場狀況,如與帕斯堤一同用餐、共用馬桶。結果顯示近4成受訪者對於「與帕斯堤一同用餐」表示擔憂感染,逾5成擔心「與帕斯堤共用馬桶」會有傳染風險。

Taiwan Lourdes Organization released results from a survey about the industry’s perceptions about employment for HIV positive. Those surveyed were owners and human resource managers from companies of small and medium scale. The survey contained questions regarding common AIDS myths as well as employment conditions. Results showed that close to 40% of respondents expressed concern over “having a meal with the HIV positive”, and more than 50% were worried that “sharing the same toilet with the HIV positive” would increase the risk of infection.

此外,近3成受訪者對於「與帕斯堤進行牽手、搭肩或是擁抱等普通肢體接觸」覺得有感染風險,超過4成擔心帕斯堤在身旁打噴嚏或是咳嗽的舉動,就會出現傳染疑慮。

Furthermore, close to 30% of the respondents believed “holding hands, putting hand on shoulder, embracing and other types of ordinary physical contact” may create risk of infection. More than 40% of them would be worried if the HIV positive had acts such as sneezing and coughing around them.

一般接觸不會感染愛滋病毒

Ordinary physical contact not contagious

台灣愛滋病學會理事長林錫勳醫師強調,愛滋病毒只會透過高風險性行為、或是吸毒者共用針頭、容器、稀釋液,以及母子垂直等方式傳染,不會透過一般身體接觸、水、飲食或空氣傳染。

Dr. Li from Taiwan AIDS Society explained that the HIV virus can only be transmitted through high-risk sexual behaviors or sharing needles, containers, and diluents, or vertical infection between mother and infant. The virus cannot be transmitted merely through ordinary physical contact, or via air or drinking or eating together.

調查發現,64企業不知道法規明文規定工作體檢不得強制篩檢愛滋,顯示企業對於愛滋相關法規認識有待加強。55%企業表示,因擔心傳染給同仁或引起同仁恐慌,而拒絕帕斯堤任職。

The survey found that 64% of the companies were not aware that physical examinations for employment cannot forcibly include AIDS screening. This shows that companies’ knowledge about AIDS-related regulations should be strengthened. 55% of the companies would deny employment to the HIV positive for fear that risk of contagion should cause panic among the employees.
